First opening in 1530 during the reign of Henry VIII, Gill & Co is one of England's oldest Ironmongers.
History
Whilst Gill & Co has been open in Chipping Norton for the last twenty years, before that Gills was a popular shop in Oxford's Wheatsheaf Yard.
Dawn and Vic took over the business in 2000 and ran the both the Oxford and Chipping Norton shop until 2010 when the Oxford shop closed.
Oxford Shop
The shop was located in a number of different places in Oxford, including on the High Street and Crown Inn Passage way before residing in Wheatsheaf Yard for 50 years. The shop was not only popular with local handymen and residents but also with the Oxford Universities.
Chipping Norton
In September 2004, Dawn and Vic opened Gill & Co in its current location. Over the last twenty years the shop has adapted to the needs of the Chipping Norton customer, whilst always retaining the character of a traditional ironmongers. A locksmith service was introduced in 2011 and has been a popular addition to what the shop offers.
